New work (again)!

Well here is my second Scottish piece using lots of  vliesofix and misty fuse and paint but not much
embroidery.  These heat fusible webs are quite tricky to use as a material in their own right as they can become shiny with too hot an iron but too cool and they don't adhere properly.  I did get some shine but overcame most of the problems by adding more layers.
Voilà mon deuxième œuvre du sujet de Scottish Borders. J'utilisais beaucoup de vliesofix et de mistyfuse.  Ces thermocollant fusibles sont parfois difficile à utiliser car un fer à repasser trop chaud donne une brilliance  pas souhaitable mais trop froid et ils n'adhèrent pas suffise ment.
Il y avait un peu de brilliance  mais j'ajoutai une couche supplèmentaire et le résultat n'est pas mal

Weather has turned SO cold! Strong winds as well so work in the garden came to a halt where we're creating new 'dry plant' areas to try and avoid the problems of long dry summers.  We've only been here 17 years!
But my new Scottish work is coming along nicely with sheep, woods and mountains - quite a bit smaller than the first one.  Will post when ready.
Le temps a bien changé....... bbbrrr..........  On a commencé de nouveau travail dans le jardin où on essai de créer un lieu pour lesplantes qui ne crainent pas la secherese mais on ne pouvait pas continuer hier, trop froid et venteux.
Mais mon nouveau travail basé sur notre visite en Ecosse avance bien - je le poster quand il est terminé

Alas the piece I created for the Musé d'Angers triennale was not accepted.  Theme 'to web or too much web'.  The size restriction no larger than 12cm in any direction.  This gold and silver 'vessel' was created with fabric and free machining on soluble film and formed  whilst still wet from rinsing, round a bottle.
I shall look forward to seeing the work chosen when it is shown on their site.

Pas d'acceptance pour mon oeuvre pour le concours du Musée d'Angers.  Eh bien on gagne on perd c'est la vie.

I am preparing a background right now for another landscape based on a week's visit to the Scottish Borders a couple of years ago.  I really loved that scenery and the first work I did I sold at auction in the States.  I enjoyed creating that first piece too so hope I get as much enjoyment from this one.

I'm still getting a lot of inspiration from fields of crops, grasses, flowers and for once in my embroidery career I'm keeping them all to the same size and frames so a real unity is showing.  I think ten have been completed now.  These are the latest:
Je m'inspire toujours de champs champêtre et ce sont mes dernières oeuvres.  Pour la première fois dans ma carrière je les garde toutes la même dimensions créant une harmonie de sujet et et cadre.

Well I'm back!  Just one of those things that gets neglected and now I'm going to try and keep up with blogging.
Will be back in Australia in Feb 2013 teaching in the Grampians & possibly elsewhere so of course I look forward to that very much.
Haven't done much teaching this year although I did have a lovely time in Martel - the Lot (I think) earlier where I was the invited speaker for the department's patchworkers.  They're always so successful.
Alors voilà je suis encore sur mon blog.  Je vais essayer de le mis à page plus souvent que récement (il faut excuser tous mes erreurs)
Je retournerai en Australie en fev 2013-  bonnes nouvelles!
Je n'ai pas donné beaucoup de cours cette année mais la Journée de l'amitié dans le Lot se passait trés bien, j'adore les journées comme ça.

Après avoir vue l'exposition de David Hockney à Londres récemment j'ai maintenant envie de faire quelques broderies sur des images d'arbres et j'ai commencée hier de préparer le fond d'un morceau de soie. Cette expo a été sublime basé sur les paysages avec des couleurs et les compositions étonnantes. Quel artiste!

The series of six works based on a lovely field down in the valley is now finished, framed and ready for a first showing at Quilt en Beaujolais and can be viewed also on my site.

I recently went to the David Hockney show in London . It was stunning and has made me want to do some work based on trees. I have several images photographed some time ago that I can work with and I started a first piece yesterday preparing the background. We'll see how it progresses.

Since coming back from Australia I have continued on my series of the field below us in the valley. I took photos and sketches of this large field of dying grasses full of all sorts of wild flowers - irresistible! I took 2 of the finished but not yet framed pieces with me and I could have sold them several times over. But I want to exhibit them all together first. I'm very pleased with them and am really enjoying working as a series like this. Amazing the inspiration one field is giving me.

Depuis mon retour d'Australie je continue travailler sur le serie inspiré par le champ en bas dans la vallée. Je travail depuis mes photos et mes croquis de ce grand champ plein d'herbes en train de mourrir et les fleurs de toutes sortes. J'ai pris deux morceaux déjà terminé avec moi et plusieurs persons m'offert de les acheter. Mais d'abord je veux bien les exposer ensemble. J'aime bien travailler sur une thème et ce champ m'a donné beaucoup d'inspiration.
Ils seront exposés premièrement à Quilt en Beaujolais 12-15 avril.
