2011

Well things are hotting up for next year. I have now quite a few teaching engagements in Australia for next Autumn (ours) if all goes well with inscriptions. Geelong, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane and I'll be seeing family while I'm there. Can't wait!
I've also been invited to submit proposals for the EG Rocky Mountains for classes to be held in Sante Fe in Autumn 2012. I would love to participate but obviously will have to be accepted first.
There will be a big teaching day in Toulouse in March for the regional day of 'amitié' - friendship. I'm exhibiting at Quilt en Beaujolais mid April which is the first time for me and I hear good things about it, in the Luberon beginning of June which clashes with our group Enfibre's exhibition in Vedene near Avignon but I will put something in that. August sees a 3 week exhibition and teaching in the Avyeron and pretty soon after that I leave for Australia. Before I know where I am Christmas will be upon us again!

Mes engagements pour 2011 commencent accumuler. Pour l'Australie j'ai des classes en Geelong, Adelaide, Perth et Brisbane alors mon temps sera assez chargé et je veux aussi de visiter ma famille à Brisbane et au plus sud prét de Sydney. Je suis invitée submir de idées pour des ateliers pour l'Embroiderers Guild Rocky Mountains en 2012. Bien sûr je veux bien participer mais il faut être accepté d'abord. J'espère que tout le monde a bien fêté leur Noël. On a pas vu notre famille cette année mais on a passé quand même une jolie fête avec nos copains

Spent last Thursday with Enfibre the textile group I belong to. We meet every 4 months or so and next year we shall be showing our work based on recyclage 31 mai - 11 juin at du lundi au samedi inclus: 9h30 – 12 h 14 – 18 h ESPACE DU LAVOIR Cours Maréchal LECLERC 84270 VEDENE 04 90 23 33 99

On a passé la journée à Saou avec Enfibre notre groupe textile de 9 femmes. On va exposer en 2011 - voir ci- dessus. On travail sur le thème 'recyclage', exposer notre travail du débordement et tout le monde va interpreter à leur manière une carte postale donné par Pascale. Il sera intéressant de voir les résultats.

works & primeur

I've just started my teabag piece which is not easy from the point of view of deciding how to arrange them and on what background. I'm about to start my third layout on yet a another background. They're all 'vliesofixed' waiting to be placed. I'm really pleased with the colours from the red fruit teabags mixed in with others donated over the last couple of years. Once this one is done I want to make another tea tag work as I have been given masses and think quite a 'patchwork' can come out of them.
It's been the weekend of the 'primeur' where all the domaines and caves open their doors for the tasting of the new very young wine. It's really a marketing ploy to get you into to buy their 'proper' wines but it's usually good fun with lots of activities and exhibitions on offer. Don't seem to see many gendarmes about on these weekends!

Je viens de commencer ma nouvelle oeuvre sur les sachets de thé. Les sachets
d'infusion de fruits rouges dévoilent des couleurs plus harmonieuses lorsqu'ils sont
mélangés à ceux que j'ai composés ces deux dernières années. Ils sont tous posés
sur le "vliesofix" et je suis en train d'essayer quelques compositions sur les fonds
différents. Pas de conclusion pour l'instant.
Ce week-end, c'était la fête du primeur mais avec le mauvais temps il n'y avait pas
beaucoup de mouvement sur la route hier. Aujourd'hui, encore une fois, le soleil
nous a montré son visage et je suis allée voir une petite transhumance à St Gervais:
cet évènement était organisé par un domaine pour la fête du vin nouveau. On ne
voit pas beaucoup de gendarmes pendant ce week-end !

We had a lovely day out yesterday. I've wanted to visit the ochre site at Roussillon for an age and finally we made it. Very impressive and having a beautiful day for it really brought out the spectacular colours. On a passé une superbe journée hier à Roussillon chez les mines d'ochre. J'avais envie d'y aller depuis long temps et le site etait très impressionant, couleurs superbes.

We visited the musée after and this is an example of the colours painted - it could be an abstract painting. Voilà un presque abstrait tableau au musée à montrer les pigments

We then went on to Apt to the Fondation Blachère where we saw several textile artists from Africa exhibiting their fantastic work. Here is an example of details from an enormous 'curtain' composed of squashed bottle tops and metal 'tags' Difficult to see its real beauty here but it was gorgeous in its brilliance.

Après on est allée à la Fondation Blachère à Apt ou on vu une magnifiqu expo des artists textile Africain. Ces details composées de couvercles métal de bouteille et de 'tags' métal. Il est un gigantesque 'rideau' d'un beauté et d'un brilliance.


Then to crown the man-made beauty this amazing sky formed before our eyes on our way home gradually turning in a short space of time from gold and yellow to pink and red. It was so enormous and so hovered there that it felt as though it was about to fall on our heads.

Alors sur notre route de retour ce ciel d'un tout beauté naturel (aprés la beauté de l'art) se manifesta devant nos yeux. Il a commencé en or et en gris et il a finit en rouge et en rose. Ah quel régal.

On vien de passer une semaine à Paris avec nos enfants et petits enfants (teenagers). Le temps faisait beau, notre apartement était bien placé pour visiter et on a bien fait les touristes! We spent a week in Paris with children & grandchildren. Weather great, apartment very well placed for visiting.

C'est bien il y a un moment depuis que je n'ai pas écrit un mot. Je suis allée à Ste Marie aux Mines avec quelques membres de notre groupe Enfibre en septembre et on s'amusait bien. J'ai rencontré Alison Holt qui a exposé ses oeuvres de paysages en piqué libre que j'aimais.
Notre séjour en Ecosse était super et le paysage m'a beaucoup inspiré. J'ai terminé un premier tableau que je vous montrerai la prochaine fois.


Haven't written for quite a while - it's fairly time consuming and I've been quite busy one way or another. Went to SMAM in Sep with some membres of our group Enfibre and really enjoyed meeting Alison Holt who machine embroiders some lovely landscapes.
Loved our trip to Scotland which inspired me to start a landscape the first of quite a few that I'm planning. I'll post a photo of it next time round.
Just finished a project for Stitch magazine but don't know when it will appear.

vacation

We're off to bonny Scotland to Edinburgh to be precise where the Festival will be happening. So we're going to have lots of culture as well as wintry conditions compared to the sunny S of France. Looking forward to it though and to seeing some of that beautiful Scottish scenery.

On va aller on vacation à la belle Ecosse - Edinburgh où on va avoir beaucoup de culture aussi bien qu' un temps pas comme ici! Mais on va s'amuser bien et on attends avec impatience de voir cette belle région.
